    Do you approve of your guy wearing flip flops?

    I wear leather flip flops during the summer... but apparently (and I just read this online), it's considered a passe trend:

    “The flip-flop thing for men really got out of control,” said Dallas lifestyle guru Steve Kemble, who hosts a segment called “Stylin Steve” on the Dallas FOX affiliate KDFW and is a member of US Weekly's Fashion Police.

    “I'm always baffled at what makes men think women will be attracted to them in a two-for-$10 pair of Wal-Mart flip-flops,” he said. “No one wants to look at a man's dirty, hairy, nasty toes. And whenever you see a man wearing flip-flops, 90 percent are not groomed toes — that probably hurt the cause of flip-flops more than anything else.”

    Only a few years ago, John, a 40-something man who works in TV news, considered flip-flops and sandals his 10 toes' closest friends. Now he thinks they're simply "too 2003-2004."
    “I used to wear them all the time, but I just can't do them anymore,” he said.

    That got me curious: if you went out on a casual summer date with a boy and he was wearing flip flops, would you ask him to change his shoes?

    As a guy, I can tell you that flip flops will never be out of style, sorry Steve. To us flip flops aren't a fashion statement, they are comfortable. Yes I agree more guys can and should groom their toenails but honestly, that's not the first thing that crosses our minds.

    We're men. We sweat and we know it. Flip flops are the solution to bad foot odor in the summertime because quite honestly, I don't want my dress shoes (work shoes) to get all nasty and stinky just for someone else's aesthetic well being (Although I do groom my toenails). Not only is it a solution to sweaty feet, they're just comfortable, period.

    Amen to Stylin' Steve!! I hate seeing PEOPLE (men and women) wearing flip flops with ungroomed toes. So gross! I just don't think it's a good look on men. Living in California, guys always wore Rainbow sandals (which were like made out of hemp) and I hated it. Only thing that's worse is a guy wearing socks with sandals!

    I wouldn't ask you to change shoes right then and there. Probably would tell you in advance I don't like sandals :) Or I would check out your feet then at the end of the date say "hey, don't wear sandals next time." haha

    If your feet is gross I don't want to see them period. I don't care if your male or female. Trim your nasty toes.

    I think flip flops are fine as long as they're not the cheap, nasty old navy/walmart ones ( the ones the guy in the photo on the link is wearing are fine).  I think they are completely appropriate for a casual day.  If we are going to dinner, no flip flops, but for something like a day at the beach or park, YAY for the flip flops.

    If the feet look presentable, and it's the summer or the weathers pretty good. Otherwise it's common sense for them not to?

    Nice, quality flip flops on reasonably attractive, cared-for guy feet will never be out of style in my book.

    I HATE FLIP FLOPS .. on men AND women.
    However, I've been a swimmer my whole life, so I know that men wearing flip flops at the pool or the beach is never going to stop.
    My boyfriend knows, though, that if he were to wear flip flops to, say, the movies, I'd be very uncomfortable

    Flip flops on guys don't bother me.  His overly-hairy feet might.  But then again, probably not. Maybe it has something to do with my free-spirited and somewhat bohemian childhood...

    .... sandals with socks do bother me.  What's up with that?  It's either socks with shoes, or it's plain sandals... there's no situation where the whole socks with sandals situation works.

    I hate flip flops on guys. It creeps me out as well (especially the Old Navy 2 for $5 ones) Eeek!

    If we were on a date, I'd have to say no (unless the date's at the beach). The only times I deem it appropriate for guys to wear flip flops is if their feet don't look gross and it's summer, or if they're at the beach. I think the only kind of flip flops that look good on guys are leather flip flops like Rainbows.
