Do you believe in Valentine's Day?

Some friends of mine see V-day as a manufactured corporate holiday, designed to suck money out of couples.

Others see it as a romantic reminder to celebrate love.

Eh, I don't really care either way.

What do you think: is Valentine's day a worthwhile holiday, or not so much... ?

It seems like any other day to me, except this year, it's Chinese New Years too!

& I also think if you need a designated day to REMIND you to celebrate your love with one another, something might be kinda off! (:

But I do miss getting those Valentine cards in elementary school. Do you choo-choo-choose me? ;D

Yeah it's made up, card and candy companies needed something to make money during the off season of jan-march because of the lack of holidays.

I'm kind of religious so in my religio, Valentine's Day is a no-no, bu that's not the point.

Sure there's the religious reason why I don't celebrate but I also don't celebrate Valentine's Day because personally I don't believe I should be romantic or loving towards my fiancee only on one day or to focus on romance and love on one day. To me, I should treat her with a constant amount of love so that she wouldn't have to look forward to only one day.

Random notes and cards, chocolates, flowers, etc. should be given randomly throughout the year when she least expects it. Of course that's just my personal opinion.

Well I'm Muslim so celebrating a holiday that was invented for Christian Saints doesn't really make sense because a) I'm not Christian and b) The entire concept of saints isn't something that we believe in as Muslims becuse to us everyone ha to be judged on Judgement Day before they can go to heaven or hell and according to the Catholic Church, saints are already in heaven.

It's what you make it. Generally, my hubby gets me flowers and we cook dinner and hang out at home. It's nice. Nothing too special. And if you don't want to celebrate, don't bother. It's only a big deal (good or bad) if you make it that.

I think Valentine's Day is just a business move for Hallmark and all the candy companies.I've actually never had a Valentine's Day with a boyfriend, this will be my first ... but I'm not really excited about it. I just feel kind of pressured to get a nice gift or whatever.Usually, I'd just go out with my friends and get drunk.....
