I've always grown my nails out. I've never been a fan of fake nails.

I always wear acrylic nails, most of the time I get simple white tips but sometimes I get a crazy design or add color or glitter.
Fake nails are not every bodies taste but I personally love them!
I like to treat myself by getting my nails done and I prefer them longer. -
Have you ever tried calgels (I think that's what they're called). The nail salon I go to specializes in that. I've never done it, but it looks pretty good.

I have gotten gel nails before and they are awesome. Calgel is good for someone who is worried about damage to the nail bed. They actually promote nail health, and look more natural, but they are a little more expensive but I say it's well worth it if you want longer nails or an acrylic type design but are afraid to try acrylic.

I had acrylics once, and had a terrible time with them. The day after I had them done, I dropped my laptop on my nail by accident and the tip broke off and it was really painful! I had to go back and get it filled so I didn't do further damage to my nail. When I had them removed, they really damaged my nails and they were very weak and brittle. It took awhile for my nails to grow out and recover. I would probably only consider getting them again if I was getting married, otherwise, never again!!

The last time I wore fake nails was four years ago for my wedding. They're pretty, but too high-maintenance for me.

I've always grew my nails out (to a certain extent of course). I'm not against acrylic though, I've only worn them once for prom and I wasn't comfortable with them. But some are really beautiful. You don't need acylics to do a nice design on them either!

I'm the exact opposite...I keep my nails super short and only use clear polish.

Acrylics hurt like hell to take off, and they're difficult to handle. I'd just grow them out and get a nice manicure.

I want to get them done for my birthday, but Ive never gotten my nails done,so i dont know how it will look on me .

I used to get acrylics all the time but when you can't afford a fill, there are disasters like breaking and stripping your nail bed of all its layers and cauing them to be extremely weak and brittle afterward.
there is even a risk of having ridges or indents in your nails that take forever to grow off.
i recommend trying to grow them first
all you have to do is keep them painted and filed... and honestly.. taking prenatal vitamins help your nails and hair grow longer and stronger
try natural and if you just can't seem to get them to budge, go ahead and splurge on the pretty acrylics.
i can honestly say though.. having your own long beautiful nails feels much better

i would rather get my nails done than to rather let them grow out, i can never even get them to grow out, cause i bite my nails. but they do hurt a little bit when you first get them done. & of course you have to get used to them, but they worth it (:
