i used to prefer powder because it seemed more natural looking than pencil. but powder is more difficult to control, and i eventually found a pencil that i like better. i use estee lauder's mechanical brow pencils. they're very stiff so they don't deliver a super-pigmented line (hence looking more natural) and you get more precision with them than with powders.

the thing with powder is, you kinda need more time applying that than you would with a pencil. before school i'd love to use powder, if i had 20 extra minutes of course. however, pencils take like 3 minutes for me and i'm ready to go. but even than it's kinda hard to use it because it's a little jolting if you do a poignant line.
soooo, powder if you have more time and pencil if your rushing.

I don't use either, but pencil does a better job. It's easier to apply too!

I like to use a pencil with a very light hand. Anastasia's perfect brow pencil is great because it has the pencil on one end and a wand on the other to smooth it out. I think you can get it from sephora.

I prefer powder because it is easier to control than a pencil... especially those crayon-like ones. If you mess up you can just swipe the area with a wet q-tip and you're good to go. Whereas, pencils have a tendency to smear around a bit and cake up; making it look unnatural.
I've tried a few brushes and the best eyebrow brush I've found is by MAC... i think its the 208. The brush is angled and stiff so you can control it very well. I also use the MAC eyeshadow in Espresso to fill in my brows.

I just bought MAC's eyebrow pencil in Lingering and love it! Combined with an eyebrow brush it's been super easy for me to fill in my eyebrows quickly and precisely. I highly recommend it for dark haired ladies! :)

I use MAC's eyebrow pencil in lingering. It's super easy to use and flattering on so many different skin tones. I find I can be more accurate with a pencil rather than powder.

I don't use either, but I've heard powder is generally more natural looking. Depends on what you're looking for, I guess.

liner is pretty good. i mean you can just use your fingers to blend in the color into your eyebrow hair and its fine.

On Sephora.com I get a free sample of a pricey product called "Anastasia," which comes in powder form. I could never do a pencil because I like a thicker brow and I'm too worried that a pencil would make me look freakish. I use an angled brush to apply it and have been very pleased with the results.

I use a pencil, but it's pretty blunt, I don't apply too much pressure either so I don't get that liney look.
-
I've used pencil and powder before. I think powder is more natural looking but it's harder to control. I'm using mac eyebrow powder. :)

When I first bought eyebrow liners, I remember finding pencil extremely unnatural. Even up to now, I still use powder. It takes a little extra time, but not much as some people are saying. It just takes time getting used to.

I prefer powder to fill my brows in [on top of a clear wax of course, so that the powder adheres better] and I do the little tail ends of my brows using pencils, a light hand & short strokes only of course. Gives me a really defined brow, if that's what you're going for [:
For a softer effect, might I suggest using a tinted brow gel [the ones that come in a mascara like wand] to just give a tint to your brows or putting the powder over the hairs instead of drawing on your actual skin.

I use a blunted pencil... I don't like a sharp point because then it looks like I drew them on! With a blunted point, it just adds what's not there and makes my brows look more dense. Like I love them :)

I have used both. For pencil I like the brow pencil from Ben Nye, it is a Stage Makeup brand, but I guess people use it for normal life too. For powder I use Mary Kay, I'm not sure what it is called I got it as a gift but it has all three shades of brow color and two little tools for application. I like the powder better, most days but it is a fair toss up.

I use pencil, Urban Decay! It's AWESOME. I top it with a matching mineral eyeshadow to make it stay.

I think powder looks more natural as you can build up your color. I agree it is a little harder to use but it's well worth the practice to get it right.
I like Stila Browset. -
I use pencil and then I smudge it with Q-tip, to make a smokey eye affect, I love it.
