Is black nail polish tacky?
I have always loved wearing black nail polish even as a teenager, but lately it has been a "trend" and celebs have worn it on the red carpet. After Lauren Conrad wears it... is it now considered tacky? I don't want to wear it having people thinking I'm wearing it has a fashion trend but for my own personal style.

Personally, I love to rock black nail polish. Black is such a normal and classic color that will never be out of style and will most definitely never be tacky.
But here's the thing- when wearing black nail polish, the length of your nails depends on how good it will look. Like bellaglam said earlier, well-manicured nails in black will look totally awesome. Short black nails will always be a little daring and chic, but longer nails done in black will be more dangerous and showy and might be a little more on the adventurous side.
To make your black nails more personal to your style, try getting them professionally done with some white or silver designs on a couple. That's always a good way to be yourself and wear beautiful black nails with grace.

i wear it all the time! like everyone said, just make sure your nails are short to avoid the Elvira look. i also like pairing it with dresses and skirts for a fun girly/punk contrast :)

I personally love dark nail polish. If black is too trendy or harsh, you can always do a deep red like Essie's Wicked or a purple like Opi's Lincoln Park After Dark. Both are great colors!

It's simple, striking, and goes with everything. As long is it's maintained and not on clawlike acrylics, which are a little overdone in their own right, I think it's perfectly acceptable and kinda cute.

I like black nail polish, it is pretty much a classic, black goes with everything and you don't even need a leather jacket and a motorbike to rock it. The only way it fails is if you go over the fingernails and get it on the skin or if you wear to much eyeline its too much black then, but you have to have a special skill to get it that wrong.
Lauren Conrad is the tacky one not her Chanel nail polish.
I always want to say Polish as in people from Poland when I read nail polish.

SKIN and COLORING
Black belongs in the cool spectrum, it mixes well with people who have blue undertones in the skin (purple veins). People who have skin with golden undertones (warm spectrum, green veins), won't look their best wearing black.CLOTHES
The outfit colors should mix well with black polish.
You can have cool skin, and look good with black nail polish, but if you wear clothes in the wrong colors... You're gonna be tacky.
A person with golden skin, who is wearing all-black, albeit not looking his/her best, will look better than you. -
It's only tacky if you have bloody cuticles and stubby nails. :)
